Financial Commitment

The full fee, sometimes known as the global fee, is $5,500.00 and includes:

All prenatal appointments, including one home visit to discuss preparing for birth
All basic labs, including Prenatal Panel, Iron Panel, Gestational Diabetes Glucose Screen, and Group B Strep swab. Additional labs are available at cost through LabCorp.
Birth Kit
Midwifery support during and after labor and birth
Two in-home postpartum appointments
One 6-week postpartum support
Daily access to midwifery advice and support via text, calls, and emails.

Additional Cost from Outside Sources

Ultrasounds: ($180-$300). Price varies by location and type of ultrasound. Usually, only one ultrasound (an Anatomy Scan) is performed during pregnancy.
Genetic Screening (optional): around $390 through LabCorp
Waterbirth Tub and Supplies (Cost Varies). We bring a pump to drain the pool.
RhoGAM for Clients with a Negative Blood Type

Unfortunately, Georgia legislators have chosen not to integrate home-birth midwives into the healthcare system. Therefore, insurance companies are not required to cover home birth services.
At times, based on individual plans, you may qualify for reimbursement. You will need to check with your insurance provider. I am happy to provide invoices per their request.
If you have an HSA, typically they will pay. There is a 3% charge for you to use your HSA card, so it is better to ask them to send a check directly to avoid fees.
Most Healthshares are more than willing to pay for a homebirth. Popular companies are: Christian Healthcare Ministries, Samaritan, and Zion.
